Thursday 24th April produced a grey, cloudy day which gradually got worse as we headed south over Mt Ousley. The Graeme N Tour of the South was under way and the tour included Albion Park Air Museum, Robertson Railway history, Belmore Falls and the Fitz Roy Iron Workworks ruins at Mittagong. More rain at Albion Park - shades of Taylor tours!
Under the vocal guidance of Le Capitan Graeme, we spent a couple of very happy hours climbing under & over the old planes including the brilliant Super Constellation 'Connie'.
Onwards up the Macquarie Pass accompanied by the tour commentary supplied by 'guess who' and we were treated to a visit to Robertson station where the Treetops Express just happened along. With Ron Neathercote showing us how to drive a big diesal locomotive (ok he knew where the siren was), we had a most interesting visit. After a 'scrumptiouis' lunch highlighted by a bottomless Tawny barrel, and some dubious meat balls, we had a look at the water diversions, Belmore Falls (totally in fog) and then the amazing Ironworks ruins preserved in the car park of Woolworths Mittagong. Le Capitan sure takes you to strange places.
Returning to Grandviews found it raining again however it had been a great day and our fearless leader and his very capable driver were given a rowdy thank you from the tourists.
Thank you again Mr SIGOFF!
The latest "Three Willys Tour" run by Mr Sigoff has been a wonderful success with lots of wives turning up. Mr Sigoff says the drawcard was the scones - I wonder?
