20th Birthday Celebrations - 7th June at Grandviews Club.
After our monthly committee meeting we welcomed 110 to our General Meeting to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. The plans included three 20 year pin awards to Tom Auld, Neville Gazzard and Bert Simons. We also had a special birthday cake with morning tea, and a special presentation by Les G on our members looking at who we are from a statistics view. Then President Richard asked Secretary Ken to distribute the Historic Books and Dvds that had been produced for the event. The Books had been personalised with each member's photograph on the cover. The DVD had video and photograph sections from our past tours and a current member list.
We were delighted to have a visit from a member of the Probus Centre - South Pacific board, Mr Gary Blackler, who addressed the meeting.
After the member festivities we ajourned to the restaurant for our Anniversary lunch where we were joined by Mrs Pru Hudson, President of Grandviews Ladies Probus club, and Mr Eric Sims, President of Club Grandviews.
President Richard welcomed the 184 attendees including members wives and partners, past members, widows of past members and announced that our founding President Lionel was not able to attend so we would go to his home after the lunch and present him with his 20 year pin.
President Richard also thanked the Anniversary Committee and all the sub comittee members that had worked hard to make our anniversary so successful.
